If You're Thinking of Selling, Read This First

Most people selling an antique or inherited watch have no idea what it's really worth — and dealers are counting on that.

Here's why a professional valuation changes everything:

▸Dealers have a financial interest in keeping prices low. Their margin depends on buying cheap. A dealer's verbal offer is not a valuation — it's an opening position.
▸Online price guides miss what actually drives value. Condition, movement quality, originality of parts, and current collector demand can add — or subtract — hundreds or thousands of pounds from a baseline figure.
▸Small details mean big money. The difference between an original dial and a refinished one, or a matching-numbers movement and a replaced one, can be worth more than most people earn in a month.

You deserve to know what you actually have before you make any decisions.

A Full Professional Valuation. Free. No Catch.

During our founding period, a small number of submissions each month receive a complete specialist valuation at no charge. This is the same assessment normally priced at £25 — written, detailed, and delivered within 48 hours.

Why free? We're building our valuation platform and want real watches from real owners. In return, we ask for honest feedback. That's the only exchange.

What you receive:

  • Estimated current market value range
  • Specialist assessment of condition, movement, and originality
  • Research into comparable recent sales
  • Plain English written report — no jargon, no assumptions
  • Delivered to your inbox within 48 hours

What Watch Owners Are Saying

— David R., Edinburgh

★★★★★

"Completely straightforward. No sales pressure, no jargon. I got a proper written valuation that I used when negotiating a private sale. Absolutely worth doing before you sell anything."

— Margaret T., Bristol

★★★★★

"I wasn't sure my watch would even qualify — it's not a famous brand. They assessed it anyway and the report was genuinely useful. I now know exactly what I have and what it's worth."

FAQ — Before You Apply

Questions people ask before submitting

What watches do you accept?

Antique and vintage watches of any make — from unsigned pocket watches and dress watches to luxury and collectable brands. If you're genuinely unsure whether yours qualifies, submit it and we'll tell you. We'd rather assess something borderline than have you miss out.

Do I need the original box and papers?

No. But if you have them, photograph and include them — they can significantly affect value and we'll factor them into your report.

Is the valuation really free?

Yes. Every accepted submission during our founding period receives a complete professional written valuation at no cost. The standard price for this assessment is £25. There is no payment step, no card required, and nothing that becomes paid later. The only thing we ask for in return is honest feedback on your experience. No catches. No small print.

Do I have to sell through you?

Absolutely not. There is no obligation whatsoever — not to sell, not to use our recommendations, not to respond further. Your report is yours. What you do with it is entirely your decision.

What if my submission isn't accepted?

Beta capacity is limited. If we're unable to assess your watch in the current round, we'll let you know and add you to the next available slot.

How do I know the valuation is accurate?

Every valuation is carried out by an accredited UK watch specialist with direct reference to verified recent comparable sales. You'll see the methodology and sources referenced in your report.
